When there is no map, use a compass

Man has been creating and following maps for over 8000 years. They have incredible value when you know where you want to go, but don’t know how to get there.

But, what if you want to go somewhere nobody has ever gone before?

You need a compass.

A compass will orient you and let you know whether you're heading in the right direction. As long as you keep focused on your destination it will guide you.

But it won’t tell you how to get there.

With the rate of change today, what you’re about to undertake in your business has probably never been tried before. A road not yet travelled.

Maybe others have tried to achieve a similar goal, and will come forth with map in hand claiming expertise; but if not in your own context the journey is as new as for pioneers exploring new lands.

Fortunately everyone comes equipped with their own compass comprised of knowledge, intuition, judgement and experience. It’s just a matter of trusting it. And nurturing it.

Don't spend too much energy following a map to a place you’ve never been.

Start on the journey with a well developed compass - and pay close attention to the signs along the way.
